Friday 27th October is World Occupational Therapy Day and we want to recognise just some of our remarkable Occupational Therapists at our Duncraig Hub!
We had a chat with Ashleigh, Estelle and Laura, to learn more about their OT journeys here at Rocky Bay. Read on to discover what a role as an Occupational Therapist could look like for you!
Ashleigh:
With 1.5 years of experience, Ashleigh’s role is a whirlwind of variety. She’s on a mission to improve lives by working with young children and adults. Her daily routine includes visiting 3-4 customers, crafting reports, and collaborating with her supportive team at Duncraig. Ashleigh can see promising career growth ahead thanks to the unwavering support from colleagues like Georgia Biggings. Ashleigh feels immense satisfaction in knowing her role makes a positive impact to the lives of others.
Estelle:
Eight months ago, Estelle embarked on her OT journey straight from university, driven by the wonderful people she encountered during her placement at Rocky Bay. Staying on at Rocky Bay was a no-brainer for her. She has gained valuable insights from her colleagues and supervisors, fueling her passion to make a difference. The culture at Rocky Bay has been a nurturing space for young professionals, fostering understanding, hard work, and continuous growth. Estelle loves connecting with people, helping them, and dedicating time to make a difference in their lives.
Laura:
Laura, our Clinical Advisor, has more than 7 years of expertise, specialising in assistive technology and home modifications. Her role involves transforming homes to be more accessible, addressing everything from structural to functional changes. This specialisation has allowed Laura to diversify her skill set and delve into the world of specialist disability accommodation, a field she’s hugely passionate about. Laura has completed multiple complex home modification courses throughout her career and frequently mentors and supports OT students and colleagues, exposing them to this crucial niche in occupational therapy.
