Meet Kimberley Spence, our dedicated Team Leader at 62 McCabe Street Supported Accommodation with a remarkable five-year tenure at Rocky Bay. Kim’s journey with Rocky Bay began as a support worker in the Community team, where she passionately worked for three years. Her commitment and expertise led her to the role of lead support worker for two years, covering both Nollamara and the Ascot Hub. Currently, Kim is seamlessly transitioning into her new role as Team Leader at 62 McCabe St Supported Accommodation.
Before joining Rocky Bay, Kim embarked on a fulfilling adventure as an Au Pair in Canada, caring for two young boys and gaining invaluable experiences.

What does your role involve at Rocky Bay and can you describe a typical day?
No day is the same! Currently I am spending some time getting to know our customers at 62 McCabe and learning their routines.
My day to day involves mentoring/coaching the team, creating great relationships with our customers, their parents, stakeholders and of course our amazing team.
We manage all of our customer’s appointments, community outings, dietary needs, medical requirements and everything that is involved in day to day living.
Why is supported accommodation so important? What benefits does it provide our customers?
Supported accommodation provides our customers with independence whilst being safe and actively supported. Throughout my time here at 62 McCabe I have experienced the connections the customers have made with each other, the staff and the broader community. It provides a way for the customers to connect which is so lovely to see.
Do you have a favourite customer story you can share?
I don’t think I can narrow my experience at Rocky Bay down to one customer/ one story.
I have had too many amazing memories – My favourite story would have to be our music sessions at the Nollamara Community Hub – our customers & staff just light up! They sing and dance to a live musician, it’s just amazing.
What do you love most about your role and working at Rocky Bay?
I LOVE meeting all our amazing customers and getting to know them and their quirky personalities. Our staff, in every department are always so friendly, supportive, and accepting– it truly makes a difference and makes it a positive place to work. I also love that I have the opportunity to grow within Rocky Bay. I am grateful for my progression and proud to work for this organisation.
What are three things you can’t live without and why?
This question got my brain working-
I can’t live without my loved ones (including the doggo’s), the beach and travel…. Oh and caffeine… that’s three right?
They all bring me a sense of peace and freedom.
