Rocky Bay’s Executive team recently welcomed NAB Board members and WA Senior Management for an exclusive tour of its Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) ‘Grant Lewis Court’ in Gosnells.

Delivered by Rocky Bay’s subsidiary, Shift Accessible Homes, in December 2023, the accommodation provides five boutique residences enabling life-changing opportunities for people living with disabilities.

The success of this project would not have been possible without this strong partnership between Rocky Bay and NAB.

The visiting NAB Board members included, Non-Executive Director and Chairman; Philip Chronican, Non-Executive Director; Christine Fellowes, Non-Executive Director; Carolyn Kay, Non-Executive Director; Anne Loveridge AM and Non-Executive Director; Doug McKay ONZM. NAB’s senior management included State Manager WA; Regina Sun, Executive Professional Services Government Education & Community WA Courtney Worrall and Director, Government Education & Community WA Matthew Smoje.

Rocky Bay’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Tait, expressed his gratitude to the Board for taking the time to see firsthand what NAB’s support has contributed to.

“It was a real pleasure to welcome the NAB board, whose support has been instrumental in the delivery of Rocky Bay’s SDA homes,” Mr Tait said.

“Our supply of accessible homes, delivered under our subsidiary brand SHIFT Homes, is allowing our customers to increase their independence and experience living life in the way they choose.

“Working with NAB to explore our finance options and receiving their excellent customer support along the way has enabled us to expand the delivery of SDA in areas our customers want to live in.

“Since partnering with NAB, we have delivered state-of-the-art homes and we look forward to delivering another 37 bedrooms across 5 sites by the end of 2024,” Mr Tait said.

During the visit, the NAB Board members had the opportunity to meet Rocky Bay customers including 40-year-old Michael and his parents, Janet and Gerrit, at his home.

Michael, a resident of Grant Lewis Court since December, is experiencing independent living for the first time.

Janet shared her positive experience regarding the emotional transition of Michael moving out of their home for the first time.

“He is living with a group of people his age who share his interests. He has wonderful support workers who have been with him for many years. The staff at Grant Lewis Court have been great, and I’m pleased about that,” Janet said.

Jane explained the decision to move Michael into Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) was crucial, especially as she and her husband were getting older.

“We miss him, and the move was very emotional, but it was great to be supported by Rocky Bay. I’m still able to visit him often,” Janet concluded.

The visit offered a wonderful chance for NAB to see firsthand the independence that specialist disability living can provide for Rocky Bay customers, highlighting the crucial support NAB offers in this journey.
