Rocky Bay’s plans to rezone its 60 McCabe Street premises has achieved a significant milestone, with the Town of Mosman Park releasing our proposed Scheme Amendment for public consultation.
This is an essential part in the State planning process as we work to rezone the site from being limited to ‘social care facilities’ to being appropriately zoned to support residential development. This will provide more clarity for potential purchasers of the site around how future residential development could be considered, by amending the Town’s Local Planning Scheme No. 3 (LPS 3).
You may have noticed that a sign has been installed at the entry to 60 McCabe Street letting the community know about the consultation process. Over the course of the consultation, we will also see adverts placed in the local press and related content on the Town of Mosman Park’s social media. The Town will also send direct correspondence to service providers and to residents/stakeholders registered though its YourSay platform.
The housing at 62 McCabe Street and its associated carpark are not included in this process, as they are not on the same lot as the rest of our Mosman Park facility.
After the close of consultation, the Town will make a recommendation to the WAPC on the Scheme Amendment based on community feedback. The WAPC will then make a recommendation to the Minister for his consideration in deciding whether to approve the Scheme Amendment. Given this process, we will not know the final outcome until mid 2025.
We are pleased the Town of Mosman Park has commenced this process, as we look to further optimising our network of hubs across Perth to best support people living with a disability.
