Early Childhood Intervention is about getting the help you and your child need as early as possible. At Rocky Bay, our interdisciplinary approach involves collaboration between your family and our team as equal partners, ensuring that planning and services for your child are tailored to your family’s life, priorities, and preferences. Studies have shown that services acting alone are not able to meet children’s needs and goals as effectively as those who collaborate and view the child holistically. In the early years, children experience rapid growth and change, and we are committed to regularly reviewing your child’s goals to remain responsive to your evolving needs.

The program is personalised for your child, considering your family’s goals, needs, strengths, and challenges. We start with thorough information gathering and assessment, followed by collaborative goal setting and action planning. Depending on your child’s needs, the sessions may include:

  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech Pathologists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Exercise physiologists
  • Allied health assistants
  • Paediatric continence nurse
  • Podiatrist
  • Dieticians *
  • Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners *

 

* Dieticians and Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners requires funding

To ensure collaboration and family centred practice, you will be actively involved with your child’s therapy. You will have sessions and meetings with your child’s support team as we work together to achieve their goals. According to studies, one hour of therapist to child intervention relates to one hour of learning opportunities whereas one hour of therapist to family intervention can relate to up to 84 hours of learning opportunities for the child.
