When Sam Caird applied for a job in Rocky Bay’s workforce team, she didn’t think that two years later she would be diving into a HR role as a recruitment officer.
Sam began her time at Rocky Bay in 2022, after a career in vet nursing and experience in health care.
During the pandemic Sam took the opportunity to further her studies, completing a course in business, commerce and HR.
“Both of my parents have a background in compliance and business studies, so it was something I’ve always been familiar with,” says Sam.
At the time Sam was looking for a job, Rocky Bay didn’t have any suitable HR roles available, so she applied for the role in workforce and landed it.
“I wanted to work at Rocky Bay because I heard positive things about it and there was room for growth and improvement,” says Sam.
Sam was offered a secondment role in the HR team, before she could start a role opened up allowing her to permanently fill the role.
Sam said that having support from Gioia and Suze was beneficial in her transition.
“They’ve been really supportive, advocating for my move and really helpful in taking me on and all that comes with that,” says Sam.
Sam was lucky enough that she could change roles and stay at Rocky Bay.
Sam was eager to get started in her new recruitment role, as that was one of her favourite parts about her studies.
“I just want to be a sponge, I want to learn and absorb as much information as I can in this role,” says Sam.
“I’m thankful for the time I had in workforce, they’re one the best teams I’ve been apart of and I’m coming to find out the same about HR as well,” says Sam.
