Support Worker Awareness Day

On Support Worker Awareness Day, we celebrate our dedicated support workers who go above and beyond for our customers.

Support workers are such an important part of our business, instrumental in ensuring our customers have the best possible experiences and the freedom to do what they love.

We’ve highlighted some of the incredible stories below:

Support workers Saru and Gary recently worked together to save a customer when a fire broke out in the customer’s room at Birdwood. Remaining cool and calm, they safely evacuated the customer and followed all the correct protocols. In a stressful situation, they put the customer first and their quick actions saved lives and minimised any damage. Fantastic to see Saru and Gary recently pick up a Star Award ‘Working Together’ for this amazing work.

Support worker Aimee from Joondalup Hub has been the driving force behind our successful Dungeons and Dragons campaign, now entering its third campaign. Aimee, a D&D enthusiast, introduced the game to help customers develop social skills and meet new people. The program’s popularity has led to its expansion to PKC, a testament to Aimee’s fantastic work.

At the Joondalup Hub, our support workers love celebrating theme days with our customers, providing opportunities to get excited and dress up. What a fun way to spend the day! For example, when we celebrated Halloween and the festive season, our customers love getting involved and feeling special.
