By the end of this training course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide optimal care for patients with complex bowel conditions, utilizing a holistic approach that prioritizes patient comfort, safety, and dignity.

Items covered in this training are:

  • Anatomy of GI system
  • Anatomy of large bowel
  • Constipation: it’s causes, symptoms and management
  • Oral laxative: various types and their actions
  • Suppositories: types and their actions
  • Enemas

There is also a practical demonstration of giving the suppository/enema which covers positioning, the privacy and dignity of the customer, equipment and insertion. Participants will then take part in a simulated practice of these techniques.
